Getting to Puri
For guests taking an international flight, the closest airport to the wedding destination is Bhubaneshwar and you'd most likely need to fly in to Mumbai/ Delhi/ Chennai/ Kolkata and connect to Bhubaneshwar. We can help you get to Puri from the airport in Bhubaneshwar.
If you are taking a train, the closest train station would be Puri.
Things to do around Puri
While we are planning to keep you VERY busy over the weekend if you are interested in spending a few more days in the area there are lots of things to do.
1. KONARK TEMPLE: "Here the language of the stones surpasses the language of the humans." said Tagore about this world famous, Sun Temple, also known as the Black Pagoda. Built in black granite in the 13th century, the temple is a World Heritage Site.
2. LORD JAGANNATH TEMPLE: A famous, sacred pilgrimage temple built in the 12th century atop its ruins, that is part of the "char dham" (four sacred abodes) pilimigrage that a Hindu is expected to make in one's lifetime.
3. DIAMOND TRIANGLE: Regarded as one of the holiest sites for Buddhism followers, the triangle includes Udaigiri, Ratnagiti and Lalitgiri. Recommend reserving a day for this tour.
4. CHILIKA LAKE: Chilika, a brackish lake at Satpada is the largest Ramsar site of Asia and is famous for the migratory birds that visit this lake from distant lands. From here you can take a boat cruise to visit the Irrawady Dolphins and Rajhans Island.
5. BHUBANESHWAR TEMPLES: There are some beautiful ancient temples in Bhubaneshwar that we have loved visiting including Dhauli, Lingaraj temple and the Parshuram temple, which is the oldest of the three constructed in 650 AD!
